Cremation caskets are fully combustible caskets — usually softwood, engineered wood, or natural fibre — built to be cremated with the person they honour, while still being presentable for a viewing or funeral service beforehand. Every model below is factory-direct with no funeral-home markup.
A cremation casket is made almost entirely from combustible materials so it can pass through the cremation process with little hardware to remove — typically solid softwood, veneered or engineered wood, or woven natural fibre with minimal metal fittings. This construction meets the standard crematorium requirement for a rigid, combustible, leak-resistant container.
They overlap heavily but aren’t identical. Most cremation caskets are wood — pine, poplar, and veneer burn cleanly — but a cremation casket can also be bamboo, willow, seagrass, or cloth-covered. Meanwhile a solid hardwood casket (oak, cherry, mahogany) is a wood casket that’s better suited to burial. If you want wood specifically, look at our pine and poplar cremation models; if you’re cremation-first, any casket in this category qualifies.
Every cremation casket here is presentable enough for an open- or closed-casket viewing, so families can hold a full ceremony before cremation with confidence.
They skip the heavy-gauge steel, sealed gaskets, and protective build of a burial casket. Fewer materials and a simpler construction mean a lower price — and buying factory-direct removes the funeral-home markup on top of that.
For a direct cremation with no viewing, a plain rigid cremation container may be all you need at an even lower cost. Unsure which route fits? Call 416-321-5688 and we’ll walk you through it.
