Description
In Chinese funeral tradition, the blanketing ceremony (盖被仪式) is one of the most personal moments of the visitation. Family members take turns laying a blanket over their loved one — traditionally beginning with the eldest son or daughter and continuing in order of family relation — with each blanket expressing the family’s wish to keep them warm, comforted, and honoured on the journey to come. It is common for every participating family member to place their own blanket, and for many blankets to be layered during a single ceremony.
Our Chinese funeral blankets are made from soft, silk-finish fabric with traditional blessing and longevity motifs, generously sized to drape gracefully over the casket and finished to fold cleanly for presentation before the ceremony. Each blanket arrives ready for the service.
Choosing Colors for the Ceremony
Auspicious colors such as red, gold, yellow, pink, and green are traditionally chosen for the blanketing ceremony, and different family members often select different colors. Dark or monochromatic tones are generally avoided. If you are unsure which colors suit your family’s traditions, call us — our staff are happy to help. 我们提供中文服务。
How Many Blankets Do We Need?
There is no fixed number — the head of the family decides who will take part in the ceremony, and each participant typically places one blanket. Families often purchase several. If you are ordering for a service, contact us about family sets and availability for same-day pickup.
